Bollocks is really polite. It’s that moment at dinner with your family when you want to swear but you can’t. It’s Bull…locks.
Chaos is every teenager’s messy room where everything seems out of place, but it’s not. Chaos is your head when you’re nervous. It’s looking into the abyss and smiling.
Enlightening can be two different things entirely. It can be that wondrous moment in an exam when the answer to question 6, which had been eluding you, finally dawns on you. But it can also be the lugubrious instant when you’re in bed trying to sleep and you remember you still have homework to do or that you have an exam you had forgotten about the following day.
Extemporaneous was our relationship. It came out of nowhere, made me fall into the abyss and then dripped between my fingers like water.
Ferocious is the need to protect everything you care about. Ferocious is your best friend thinking of ways to cheer you up that include mentioning methods to hurt the asshole that hurt you in the first place.
Gorgeous is every girl that smiles back at you with kindness in her eyes. Gorgeous is every curvy or ‘chubby’ girl, so amazing that boys are terribly scared of them. Gorgeous is more than beautiful.
Haemorrhage is what every girl goes through once a month. It’s that bit of blood that is such a taboo that boys either run scared from it or foolishly mock it as if it was a weakness.
Heartbreaking is watching people cry. It’s looking in the mirror and not recognising the person standing in front of you. It’s watching him fall in love with another girl. It’s hating yourself for not being as strong as you think you should be.
Mischievous was his smile. That lopsided, crooked, half smile that still haunts me in my sleep. A smile so beautiful I wanted to see it as much as I could before I’d inevitably lose it.
Rhyme is the music in the words. It’s the soothing melody of my stories.
Romanticism was the look in his eyes that first month. It’s laughing in between kisses and holding hands in the subway. It is good night and good morning texts and a kiss in the cheek to wish you good luck. It is taking care of another person just because you want to do it, not because they need it.
Treacherous is the fall. It’s losing yourself completely inside someone else’s universe. It’s watching this other person in front of you and feeling like they’re the only one in the world. Treacherous is love.
