Dating Directory
He looked at her through the window. The mass of black curls obscured her face sometimes, but when she reached up to pull her hair up, he could see it. And she wasn’t smiling. She never smiled. And that bothered him. She was a mesmerizing girl, and she didn’t smile.
He was new to the city. He still didn’t know the language, but that wasn’t an issue; everyone spoke his. He was new to the city and had fallen for the girl in that window. The girl that made his world turn, who had a mass of long black curls surrounding her face. Like a frame. Like a crown. Like a black halo. That girl would change his life forever. Or maybe he would change hers. Later on, people wondered which was it, but at the time, they didn’t even know it.
Thing is, he wasn’t the type to just sit around. He wanted to know. He wanted to meet her. He wanted to take her out. And that was what he was going to do. But, how? If he stood at her door waiting for her to walk out he might freak her out. And he didn’t know which door was hers. Then he saw the directory, and everything clicked.

“Hello?” Her voice mildly distorted by the line.
“Um, hi. Are you the black-haired girl?” He didn’t know how else to phrase it.
“Excuse me?”
“I live in the building in front of yours and I am looking for a black-haired girl.”
Through the window, he could see her looking out. It was her. He waved until she spotted him.
“I guess that’s me, then,” she said puzzled.
“Do you want to go grab a coffee with me?”
And that was the first time he ever saw her smile.
(No, I am not kidding, this is literally how my parents met xD)
