Fostering a stranger

WTF? You’re not my roommate, how did you get in here? Oh SHIT you’re really drunk and now you’re crying okay okay it’s ok shhh, you can stay here I guess??

“‘Girl, wake up, hey, hello, please, oh God.’ The girl was just laying there, she didn’t respond to anything. I was so fucking scared. She wasn’t moving. Was she breathing? Oh. My. God. Was she EVEN breathing? I checked her pulse, terrified. But her heart was beating, and she seemed to have fallen asleep right there, on the spot. The tears were still fresh on her cheeks; her eyes looked a little puffy. I couldn’t just leave her outside my door and hope nothing happened to her.
“Slowly, I took her shoes off and dressed her in one of my spare pajamas. I struggled to lift her up and put her into my bed. I was worried she would wake up and freak out on me. Which was really weird because I was the one who should have been freaking out. But she didn’t even flinch. So I tucked her in and decided to remove her make-up. I cleaned her tear-stained cheeks and removed her eyeliner. I carefully rubbed off her dark red lipstick. Her lips were full and bitten and redish and wonderful. I didn’t know this girl but she definitely was gorgeous. At some point I was just looking at her face wanting to kiss those lips and wondering what had happened to her. But it was 4am and I was exhausted too and I needed sleep and I just collapsed on the floor and wrapped a blanket around myself.” She paused, dramatically.
“Britt, don’t do that! What happened next?”
“Nothing.” Brittany smiled widely. “I just fell asleep on the floor and woke up to the sound of someone gasping really really loudly.”
“Oh, come on, it wasn’t that loud, Britt.”
“Shh, let her finish the story.”
“Okay, Okay,” she laughed and resumed the story. “So there we were, just woken up. And this beautiful girl was looking at me with terrified green eyes. All I could do was shyly say hi and introduce myself. ‘Hi, I’m Brittany, you broke in here crying last night and then you fell asleep and I couldn’t just kick you out. You okay?’
“She nodded, apparently still really confused. ‘Right, do you have a name then?’ She nodded again. ‘I’m Flo.’ ‘Great, hi Flo. Do you wanna grab some breakfast before I walk you home?’”
“And that’s still the best breakfast I’ve ever had, darling.” Flo kissed Brittany’s cheek and just smiled warmly.
